Big news about a big weekend - Oct. 7 & 8

Remember Concert on the Hill? It's our annual outdoor concert where we set up our lawn chairs and blankets outside and listen to our three Worship bands for a few hours.

This year, Horizons is hosting Weekend on the Hill -- two days of serving, fun and Worship that will include Concert on the Hill but more importantly, it'll include a big-Big-BIG service project. For the first time, Horizons is organizing and hosting a benefit 5k walk. We will be walking to raise money and awareness for Tracy's Angels, a group committed to raising $500,000 for Lincoln resident Tracy DuPont to pay for her bone marrow transplant.

The walk will kick-off the weekend beginning Saturday, Oct. 7 at 8 a.m. for check-in and late registration, and the walk will start at 9 a.m. The course begins and ends at Horizons Community Church, 3200 Grainger Parkway, Lincoln, Nebraska. Look for registration forms at Horizons and soon we'll have the registration area set up on the Web site. Walkers aged 14 through adults are $15 and they'll receive a pink Tracy's Angels t-shirt. Younger ages are not asked to donate and don't get a shirt. If they want one, they'll be available for $10.

Concert on the Hill will take place Saturday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. As before, bring your chairs, blankets, family and friends. There will be food for sale and fun things for the kids.

Sunday, Oct. 8, we will have one Worship-Celebration service outdoors at 11 a.m. Again, bring those lawn chairs and blankets. After Worship, there will be lunch and family games.

So you see, it is big. It's a big opportunity for us to serve a local woman who needs help. Serving is a core value at Horizons. It's part of our DNA as a church body. It defines who we are. Get the weekend reserved on your calendar now and watch for more details to come.

If we could get the registration form for the walk up on the blog and horizon's website that would be awsome so that we could print that off and register. I really would like to register as soon as possible!!!

Check out the Horizons Web site at www.horizonschurch.org. Toward the bottom of the home page is a link to the flyer. You can print it out, fill it in and then mail it or drop it off at Horizons with the registration fee.

Thanks,
LMF
