Ground rules - repost

Here are the ground rules for keeping the blog Christ-centered:

  • Be nice. You don't know who is reading.
  • Be honest. You don't know who is reading.
  • Be real. You don't know who is reading.
  • Be careful. You don't know who is reading.

I'll be moderating the discussions -- I've changed the settings so that for awhile all comments will be approved before being posted. Contact me anytime if you have any questions or concerns about a post or comment. My e-mail is: lmf@neb.rr.com.

I pray that the moderating is not too strict. We are a cutting edge church after all. If this blog is to represent the Horizons community, it should not be censored by one person. The community should hold the right, to joke, laugh, share opinions, vent, disagree, or whatever. If it lands here, it is from the community we call cutting edge and open to all. A community that allows and encourages people to speak their minds and have their opinions. It is not a place where people have to fear they are being monitored or judged by others. It must be free and open minded. And allow people to feel comfortable with sharing. if this Blog is to be from Horizons, it should be maintained by all of Horizons. If someone says something others find offensive, then the community should be allowed to respond. Not one person. If Steve has taught us anything it is that one person does not speak for the church. We all speak for the church. Moderating is fine if this is your site. But it is not. It is our site.

The point of moderating is not to censor the conversations. But this is not a closed blog, it's open to the world. Anyone can visit. Anyone can post. There is a lot of distasteful (an understatement but nice word) stuff out there that can end up on a blog site.
